COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES OF MASTER PROGRAM AGROECOTCHNOLOGY FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE UDAYANA UNIVERSITY IN JEMBRANA General

In order to realize the cooperation agreement between the Agriculture and Food Service of Jembrana Regency and the Masters Program in Agroecotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University in 2023, the Masters Program in Agroecotechnology, FP Unud held Community Service (PKM) activities for the Merta Abadi Cocoa Farmer Group, Ekasari village, Melaya sub-district, district Jembrana. This farmer group consists of 29 farmers, a relatively well-developed and innovative farmer group in cocoa production in Jembrana. According to the Head of the Farmers Group, namely Mr. Kadek Suantara, the Merta Abadi Farmers Group can produce 2 tons of wet cocoa beans every week.

This activity was attended by the Head of the Agriculture and Food Service Office of Jembrana Regency, Mr. Komang Ariada, S.P, who represented the Head of the Service. In his remarks, it was hoped that this collaboration would continue for the sake of developing agriculture in Jembrana Regency, especially cocoa production which is the main agricultural product of Jembrana Regency.

The activity presented four speakers according to their competence, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Supartha, MS who talked about how to deal with pests and diseases in cocoa plants; Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gusti Ngurah Santosa, MS, gave material on dealing with drought in the dry season on cocoa plants. Dr. Nyoman Suparna explained about the drying method for cocoa. Biopori irrigation practice was given by Dr. Ir. Ketut DharmaSusila. Apart from the speakers, the study program coordinators, lecturers and students of the Agroecotechnology Masters Study Program, FP Unud, were also present. The cocoa farmers who are members of the farmer groups are very enthusiastic about participating in this PKM activity, both lectures and practicals.
